History

In 1980, Airborne Express purchased Clinton County Air Force Base, becoming the only carrier to own and operate an airport. Air Park Services would be a division of ABX Air with the responsibility of maintaining the privately owned airport. In 2005, DHL would purchase Airborne Express and DHL made improvements to the Air Park.

Wilmington Air ParkFor over 30 years, Air Park Services maintained the largest privately owned airport in the United States, including over 2,200 acres of airport property (310 of which are paved), 50 buildings and facilities on and remote to the airport, and over 7,000 pieces of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) nationwide, as well as a wide variety of other equipment and vehicle types.
